PIANO

PIANO

The piano lessons take place at our piano room and are team lessons, with the classes made up to three students. During the first two years lessons last 2 hours every week. When students continue to the 3rd year, the piano lesson is 1 hour and the second hour is used for music theory lessons. During the first two years students learn various simple folk melodies, they play them without score, thus improving their ability to hear and their perception of music in general. Later, a more theoretical approach is followed.

Teaching in grouped lessons will help students to learn from the very beginning how to play together with others by developing a team spirit. All the songs of the repertoire are formed by the teacher for two or three pianos. In this way students change roles constantly in order to learn how to produce a richer sound but also each student learns how to be a part of a music ensemble with a definite role.

The basic study program lasts 6 years, divided into three 2 – year cycles, and is open for students over 7 years old, as well as adults. After the completion of the course, the student should be at a competent technical level, equivalent to the first class of Advanced Level (in accordance with the greek music educational standards). For those who wish to expand their knowledge on Greek folk music there is an additional seventh year of study.

Goals:
  • Basic perception of the piano.
  • Develop technical skills.
  • Understanding of the theoretical knowledge required.
  • Basic and advanced playing.
  • Understanding the role of the piano as a part of the standard greek folk / rebetiko orchestra.
